“Resume & Cover Letter”
My name is Olivia Han, an artist and teacher candidate based in Orange County, CA. I am seeking an opportunity to teach art in a school community where students can explore, express, and grow, both creatively and personally.
My teaching philosophy centers on supporting students as they develop their creative voice. I design hands-on, project-based lessons that encourage students to experiment with materials, connect with diverse art styles, and build confidence in their ideas. In my teaching experience, I have used strategies such as brainstorming with bubble maps to help students organize their thoughts before creating, giving them a clear starting point and a structure to return to throughout their process.
I also provide opportunities for students to work with a range of materials, including drawing, painting, ceramics, and digital tools. With my background in animation and digital media, I support students who are interested in digital art and help them explore tools that connect to current artistic practices. I also incorporate artists from diverse backgrounds so students can see different perspectives and feel represented in the classroom.
As an Asian woman and immigrant, my personal experiences have shaped how I connect with students and build an inclusive classroom environment. I aim to create a space where students feel supported, respected, and encouraged to take creative risks.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy playing Nintendo games, spending time with my pets, and reading. I value connection through conversation and storytelling, which often inspires my teaching and creative practice.
I look forward to bringing my creativity, cultural perspective, and passion for teaching to your school community. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Olivia
Art is how I connect—with ideas, with people, and with myself.
